    Primolut-N is a synthetic progestin medication with hormonal activity similar to the naturally occurring female hormone, progesterone, which is a commonly used as an emergency contraceptive and also for treatment of menstrual irregularities, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), endometriosis (a condition in which the tissue that lines the uterus grows outside of the uterus) and other gynecological conditions.

    Primolut-N contains the active ingredient norethisterone also known as norethindrone, which belongs to a class of drugs known as progestogens. It works by mimicking the effects of natural progesterone (a female hormone) in the body. This effects prevents ovulation and alter the lining of the uterus, making it less conducive for implantation.

    Primolut-N: Dosage

    If you are wondering how much Primolut-N to take, the answer depends on why you are taking this medication. 

    The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily for 5 days, starting on the fifth day of your menstrual cycle. If you are taking Primolut-N to treat premenstrual syndrome (PMS), the recommended dose is 10 mg once daily for 10 days, starting on the first day of your menstrual cycle. If you are taking Primolut-N to treat endometriosis or fibroids, the recommended dose is 20 mg once daily for 6 months. After 6 months, your doctor may recommend a lower maintenance dose of 10 mg once daily.

    If your doctor or healthcare provider has prescribed a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without first consulting with your doctor. Do not exceed the recommended dosage or take this medication for longer than prescribed without a medical approval.

    Primolut-N Tablet may be taken with or without food. You should swallow the Primolut-N tablet whole with water. The medication shouldn't be splited, chewed, or crushed when taking it. 

    Take Primolut-N at the same time each day to help maintain a consistent level of the drug in your system. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible unless it is close to the time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double up on doses to make up for a missed one.

    If you experience any bothersome or severe side effects from taking Primolut-N, be sure to contact your doctor or healthcare provider right away.

    Primolut-N: Storage 

    This medication should be stored at cool room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep this medication out of reach of children and pets. Do not store in the bathroom. Do not freeze.

    Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company for more details about how to safely discard your product.

    Who Should Not Take This Medication?
