    1. A healthy diet will help improve eye health

Your eyes will benefit from a healthy diet. If you are what you eat, a healthy diet will certainly show with your eyes. Healthy diets will give you better eye health and protect you from age-related eye problems like macular damage and cataracts. Some important nutrients found in food that will aid in your eye health include omega-three fatty acids vitamin C and E, zinc, lutein. These nutrients help strengthen your eyes and give you a clearer vision.

These nutrients can be found in foods like green leafy vegetables, fatty fish, fruits, and non-meat protein sources like eggs, nuts, and beans.

    2. Wear Shades

Shades are more than just a fashion accessory; they also help you protect your eyes and promote eye health. The sun has harmful UVA and UVB rays that damage not only the skin but also your eyes. Frequent exposure to these rays can cause cataracts, macular degeneration, and pinguecula. The right kind of shades with UV protection can repel 99 to 100% of harmful UVB rays. Contact lenses with UV protection are also available if you prefer those.

    3. Always wear protective eyewear when doing high-risk activities that can damage the eyes

Protective eyewear should always be worn, such as glasses, goggles, and face shields if you are doing jobs and activities that are high risk. Wear safety wear, for example, if you are doing some DIY tasks such as carpentry or cutting glass that requires you to be in close contact with sharp objects and materials and irritants that may cause you to have a pink eye.

    4. Limit your exposure to computers

Computer screens are everywhere, and they have become part of the life of almost everyone. Most jobs require working with a computer, and this can be detrimental to eye health. Website designers, graphic artists, and writers are exposed to computer screens at a higher rate than others. There are several eye problems that can happen with prolonged exposure to computer screens such as eyestrain, dry eyes, blurry vision, and long-distance focus issues. A good thing is there are several things you can do to protect yourself. For one thing, you should get the right gear when working with a computer. Get additional features in your current eyeglass or contact lenses that have a prescription for screen exposure.

You should also make it a habit to blink when your eyes dry up. It is also important to take 15-minute breaks every two hours when you rest your eyes and move around. You can also apply the 20-20-20 rule wherein for every twenty minutes of computer screen time, you take a rest and look twenty feet away for twenty seconds.

    5. Blink regularly

It is not just computers that are responsible for eyestrain. Physical books and documents also cause a strain in the eyes, especially if you are looking at them for extended periods of time. If you ever feel an eye strain, just put your head up, look away, and blink your eyes.

    6. Quit smoking

Smoking just seems to bring in a lot of diseases, and it is never a good thing to smoke if you are thinking of preserving your health. The damage of smoking extends to your eyes, and experts say that prolonged smoking can lead to cataracts, macular degeneration, and uveitis. Smokers are also prone to debilitating eye conditions twice or thrice compared to non-smokers.

    7. Exercise regularly

Exercising helps you have better health and protects you from diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol. These diseases can cause you to have vision and eye problems such as blurry vision, and it can even lead to blindness. Exercising regularly helps you not only keep your body fit, but your eyes fit as well.

    Final Thoughts:

The eyes are the windows to the world around you. It helps people navigate and form impressions of their surroundings. It helps people live life to the fullest. Eyes are an important organ that helps everyone see the beauty of the world. It is important to take care of your eye health and follow expert tips that will help you improve your habits for better vision.
