Pain undoubtedly interferes with anyone's life. No matter the affected area and the scale of pain, it's just hard to ignore and tolerate body pain. In some cases, these pains could be symptoms of an injury or disease. Hence, you must understand what causes them and how they can be treated or at least alleviated, so you won't have to live with such pain for a long time.

Many people experience pain now and then. Millions of Americans deal with pain, and it's even reported that they spend about USD$560 to USD$635 billion every year on treatment costs, lost wages, and leaves of absence.

Here's a quick look at eight leading types of common aches and pains:

    1. Foot Pain

At some point in everyone’s life, they experience some sort of pain around the feet or ankles. The feet are among the most complex, widely-used, and hardworking regions of your body. Consisting of 26 bones and 33 small joints, they are responsible for allowing you to move, walk, run, and perform any other physical activities.

The soft tissues that make up your feet include tendons, muscles, ligaments, blood vessels, and nerves. In cases when you experience sprains or strains, especially on your heel and arch, check out this site to understand more about its prevention and treatment.

Although foot pain may be easily alleviated, you can likewise treat it through preventive measures. But in cases when your injury is more severe than it seems, you should seek treatment from a healthcare professional.

    1. Back Pain

You may have or haven't experienced back pain, but it's one of the most common types of body aches. According to the National Institutes of Health, 8 out of 10 people experience back pain which may last for a year as a dull ache.

This pain affects your pelvis area up until the base of your neck. Don't worry, though, because there are many possible ways to treat and prevent it. You will need to exercise, lose weight, or seek medication if your back pain is already long-term. Other medical treatments include injections, acupuncture, therapy, surgery, and massage using Eucalyptus oil.

    1. Muscle Pain

Another common type is muscle pain. When your muscles hurt, this means that you have been doing things your muscles are not used to. For example, you will anticipate muscle pain if you go to the gym and lift weights for much longer than usual. You might also perform some activities that you feel won't impact your muscles, but eventually, will cause some mild pain in some areas.

To get rid of muscle pain, you can take some anti-inflammatory medications like Advil or Ibuprofen. Other than these oral medicines, you may also try other remedies like hot showers, stretching, and acupuncture.

    1. Headache Pain

Headaches can strike almost anyone, without considering ages, races, and socioeconomic classes. The four common headache pains are vascular, muscle contraction, traction, and inflammatory. All these kinds will give you some pain in your head that ranges from mild to severe. Treatments for headaches include oral medication, meditation, biofeedback, massage, acupuncture, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

    1. Hip Pain

When suffering from hip pain, you might feel discomfort in several areas of your body like the buttocks, lower back, thighs, groins, or knees.

When the pain is within your hip, you will experience pain inside your hip or groin. If the pain is outside your hip or on the outer thigh or buttock, your hip joint may hurt, along with nearby muscles, ligaments, and tendon issues.

Tolerating hip pain is challenging as this will affect your daily activities such as when you walk up or down the stairs, sit or stand for a long time, or even when exercising and playing sports.

    1. Hand And Wrist Pain

When you experience hand or wrist pain, most of the time, there is no need for you to worry. This is because they often settle in a few days or weeks and can be treated with some simple self-care remedies.

Arthritis may also cause aches in the hands and wrists. The best way to alleviate the pain is to avoid doing tasks that will inhibit its recovery. You have to know exactly which activities to avoid, especially those that can strain your hands and wrists further.

    1. Chest Pain

Chest pain is characterized by a painful sensation in one's upper body, starting from the jaw down to the ribs. This kind of pain cannot be taken lightly as it could be a symptom of a heart attack or another cardiac condition. Chest-related pain and diseases should not be tolerated and must be treated immediately

Sometimes, heart attacks give general warning signs that may not be sudden nor severe. People who have suffered from heart attacks may have experienced these symptoms. Such symptoms usually last for at least 10 minutes, so it would be best to consult a doctor right away when you experience sudden pain in the chest.

    1. Elbow Pain

Another kind of pain is elbow pain, which often goes away in a couple of days. Most of the time, it is caused by strained or inflamed soft tissues like your tendons. Some over-the-counter pain relievers can help cure this pain. You must also give it a few days' rest so that it can recover and heal on its own.

However, don't rest your elbows for too long because if it doesn't move as often as needed, the joints might stiffen, and the muscles around your elbow will also grow weak. With enough rest, you can go right back to your simple exercises. Prevent the risk of recurring elbow problems by incorporating some elbow workouts into your routines.

If your elbow pain has been recurring for months or years, this may have something to do with arthritis.

    Conclusion

These are the common types of aches and pain that most people experience from time to time. Although some pains are relatively mild and non-life-threatening, some can be deemed as warning signs or symptoms of a more severe health condition. When such pain occurs, make sure to take appropriate measures and consult your physician about it.
