    12 Home Remedies For Pericoronitis Pain And Discomfort

    If you think you have pericoronitis, and you are unable to get to a dentist immediately, These home treatment for pericoronitis might be the best way to ease your symptoms and reduce your chances of making your condition worse.

    Note. Don't use all these pericoronitis home remedies at once. Use it one after the other and choose the one that works the most for your day to day use.

    1. Use warm water with salt as a disinfectant to rinse the affected part

    Salt water has an anti-inflammatory effect. It is also a disinfectant that can stop bacteria growing in your mouth. Dissolve a teaspoon of table salt in a cup of boiled water and allow it to be warm to your normal mouth temperature swish it around for about 30 seconds before spitting it out. These act we help you dissolve and help rinse out food particles and other debris.

    2. Apply an Ice pack To the affected area to Ease Pain And Swelling

    Ice pack we help you reduce swelling in your gum area. Place ice in a ziplock bag, wrap it in a thin, clean towel and place it over the affected area 3 to 4 times a day for 15 minutes at a time.

    3. Use A Guava Leaf Mouthwash To Kill Bacteria

    I always use guava leaves like a paste as part of my daily oral hygiene, I used it two to three times daily. You can also use 5 pieces of guava leaf add little salt and water, allow it to boil. Is a good source of antibacterial mouth wash.

    4. Rinse With An Anti-Inflammatory Sage Mouthwash

    Sage is also good for pericoronitis home treatment because of anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties present, I use it to treat gum bleeding after brushing and relieve toothache. Sage's anti-inflammatory property is attributed to components like camphor and 1,8-cineole which makes it one of the best pericoronitis home treatment.

    Boil a glass cup of water add a teaspoon of crushed dry sage or fresh sage and wait for 10 minutes. Strain the mixture, cool it, and use it as a mouthwash. Swish this solution around the affected area for about 5 minutes. Do it morning and night.

    5. Dab On Lemongrass Oil To Reduce Inflammation And Plaque

    Lemongrass contains various beneficial compounds such as limonene, citral, citronellal, linalool, β-myrcene, and geraniol which may help prevent bacterial biofilms from forming on your teeth. One study found that a 0.25% lemongrass oil mouthwash was effective against gum inflammation and plaque when used twice a day for 21 days.

    In fact, the researchers found it a comparable alternative to chlorhexidine, a commonly used antibacterial mouthwash. So add 2-3 drops of fragrant lemongrass oil to a glass of water to make a simple and effective mouthwash.

    6. Try Oil Pulling With Antimicrobial Coconut Oil

    Oil pulling is a technique recommended in Ayurveda practice for maintaining oral health. Put the oil in your mouth for 5minutes and split it out. coconut oil has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties because of  Lauric acid present in it. In a small Studies, show that coconut oil can ease gum swelling and also reduce plaque.

    A tablespoon of coconut oil is wonderful. apply it to the affected teeth or area until it becomes thin and milky white. Don't swallow the oil because it may contain harmful oral bacteria that is present in your mouth.

    7. Apply Sesame Paste Or Oil To Tackle Pain And Bacteria

    In China, Sesame seeds are very common and they use it to treat a toothache for years. No wonder their teeth is always healthy despite there processed food intake. In a small Studies, they found out that sesame oil can relieve pain when topically applied and also act against oral bacteria such as S. mutans and L. acidophilus.

    Get sesame seeds and Boil half a cup with 5 glass of water till the water reduces to half. Grind it into a healing paste and apply to the affected area 2-3 times a daily. Dabbing on some plain sesame oil will also work.

    8. Use A Tea Tree Oil Mouthwash To Reduce Inflammation

    If you want to use tea tree as mouthwash Add 2 drops to a glass cup of plain water and shake well before use. A study has found out that tree oil is good fro pericoronitis home treatment because the oil fight against bad bacteria in the mouth and 1.5% tea tree oil was able to reduce inflammation in the gums And is consider safe for pericoronitis home treatment.

    9. Apply Turmeric Paste To Eliminate Bacteria And Inflammation

    According to a study, turmeric has been used for so many purposes and health benefits for centuries. Get a teaspoon of turmeric and mix it with salt and mustard oil or Peppermint oil to form a fine paste. Apply it to the gum to ease swelling and reduce harmful bacteria present in your mouth. A chemical compound present in turmeric is known as Curcumin, is very effective in reducing inflammation. It can also stop the growth of oral bacteria before pericoronitis get worse.

    10. Use Green Tea Mouthwash For Pain Relief

    Green tea is always helpful in reducing pain and can help you ease the symptoms you are experiencing. Drink this tea every day, especially if you just remove impacted third molar teeth. In a study, they found that people who drink green tea after tooth extraction have slight pain. So, let your green tea serves as your mouth wash every day.

    11. use garlic to reduce pain Relief

    Get a cube of garlic and put it in the affected tooth. Do this technique 2 times a day until you felt a relieve. Garlic kills harmful bacteria and serves as an extraordinary pain reliever.

    12. Use wheatgrass for Pain Relief

    Get some wheatgrass and bite on it. You can also use the juice as mouthwash 2-time daily. It reduces gum bleeding and decreases microorganisms and speed up healing.

    Remember, while these pericoronitis home treatment will certainly help relieve the painful symptoms and swelling, and keep you up for your daily activities, you must visit your dentist when you have the chance.

    Our advice 

    If you have been fighting with pericoronitis signs like swelling and pain in the affected area, pus discharge, or as an unpleasant taste or smell in your mouth, it is important to see a dentist as soon as possible.
