    Both depression and consistent self-discipline share some striking similarities. It’s a recurring pattern that’s usually categorized as flatness.

    Depression is predictable. It feels natural and artificial, and people tend to feel helpless and hopeless when they don’t have the motivation to overcome their struggles. This is because they’re focused on trying to produce a naturally-occurring motivation.

    If you’ve complete control over every aspect of your life, you’ll fail miserably. Self-discipline stems from realizing your limits and can’t control every single scenario. As humans, they’re constrained. However, maybe you’re continually looking for new methods to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

    Your anxiousness made you gravitate toward a life without calculated risk, even if it meant not going ahead. To avoid any events or settings that may cause anxiety and, potentially, a panic attack, you shielded from them psychologically. Then, your life seemed to be going through the motions, which drove you to look deeper into your thoughts.

    Being consistent in mental discipline can also help you feel more positive about your life. Although it can be hard to start, it can be very liberating to feel like you’re free and not bound by anything. However, in reality, being consistent can lead to resentment and frustration as it can quickly overtake your feelings.

    Fear of the unknown and the unknowable future, which spiraled your mind into a vortex of panic episodes, was the root cause of your anxiety. Self-discipline and what it means to let go of the urge to be incomplete and absolute control were two of the things you need to learn as you embark on this journey.

    Exercises To Improve Self-Discipline

    To help you overcome depression and increase your self-control, here are some simple exercises you may start with:

    • Clear your head of any mental clutter. If you can spare a few minutes of quiet contemplation, you may find it helpful in deciding what to do next.
    • Enhance the quality of your sleep. Depending on the individual, sleep requirements might range from six to nine hours.
    • Every day, make new objectives for yourself. When a work has been finished, it is most important to mark it as done.
    • Set up a daily time management plan. Make a list of all the tasks you need to do.
    • Do something that scares you the most. In other words, find out what you’ve been taught to avoid and strive to face that fear. Choosing a fear and seeing it as a challenge is a helpful practice.
    • Improve your diet and physical activity. Superfoods including omega-3 fatty, blueberries, green tea acids (found in cold-water fish), and curcumin have been proved to offer health advantages.
