First aid and CPR skills have always been a requirement by most employers in different states. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a procedure of lifesaving skills that are performed to a victim of heart attack or cardiac arrest. Immediate CPR has proven to be very effective in restoring breathing, heartbeat or even just improving the victim’s chance of survival and recuperation after the attack. CPR is a very essential skill as it improves the chances of restoring blood flow which can be very important in saving human life. Find out more details regarding first aid and CPR certification online that you need to know.

    The Survival Chain

Before administering any form of CPR to a victim during an emergency, there are certain procedures you have to check first. The first step is recognizing the cardiac arrest or heart attack and reaching out to emergency numbers like 911 immediately to activate emergency help. First CPR steps should include chest compressions alternating with mouth to mouth resuscitation. Rapid defibrillation should also be administered to restore the heartbeat. You can then proceed to administer any other EMS (emergency medical services) you know of. The advanced and last stage is the intervention of medical professionals in giving life support and other post-cardiac arrest nursing for the victim. The stronger and faster this chain the better the chances of survival and recuperation for the victim. More details regarding the survival chain can be taught to you when you enroll for first aid and CPR certification online.

    External AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators)

These are medical devices located in most public areas like schools and halls just in case a random person experiences cardiac arrest. It has instructions on how to fit the equipment to the victim’s chest and let determine the amount of shock to administer to the victim. Even though this device has manual instructions, it is best when handled by trained experts for the maximum benefit.

    How to Do CPR?

The first CPR technique is meant for health care professionals. It is a combination of chest compressions alternated with mouth to mouth resuscitation. The universal rate for this conventional CPR is 30:2 which implies that after every 30 chest compressions, the first aider should give two deep breaths. For adults, consider doing at least 120 chest compressions that go at least 2 inches in depth.

Here’s one more technique that can be used by the general public when seeking to offer medical assistance to a victim. Compression or Hands-only is the most recommended technique for this kind of emergencies. Hands-only means that the caregiver or first aider should only stick to the chest compressions and avoid the mouth to mouth breathing aid.

    How to Give Quality CPR?

CPR may not be effective if not done by the standards or requirements. There has to be an intensity with which you make compressions, not too hard or too shallow but to the right depth. Avoid being interrupted while giving the chest compressions to the victim. You also should not lean on the victim while giving these compressions, place your hands properly and avoid too much ventilation in order to help the victim regain consciousness faster.

    CPR For Children

A study was done recently has proven that children in sixth grade are able to use a hands-only form of CPR in saving lives. The study also depicted that while using a hands-only approach, kids could give the right compression rates and at the right location. This emphasizes the need to train children on basic first aid skills to help save lives and improve recuperation chances. This is the main reason CPR is being incorporated into school programs as a course to train the next line of first aider and lifesavers.

    Gender Differences during CPR

Resuscitation Science Symposium has depicted that men are more likely to get CPR in public when compared to women. The study showed that about 50 percent of men got CPR administered to them, unlike women whose percentage was below 40. It was concluded that men are 1.25 times very likely to get CPR assistance from a bystander and this raises their survival percentage by about 20% compared to that of women.

    Training

People have busy schedules with their professions that they barely have time to take first aid classes. Since these skills are crucial and are even considered a key requirement during job interviews, you may have to opt for training online. The online training session can easily blend in with your day since you learn everything from the comfort of your home or office. Upon successfully completing your training, you will be tested and certified to be a fully accomplished CPR and first aid expert in your society. The world is need of more first aiders due to lifestyle diseases, be the one that makes a difference in your society by enrolling today.
