If you’re looking for how to recover from Cipro side effects, you’re in the right place. Ingesting some drugs, such as Ciprofloxacin, as contained in Cipro, can have some unpleasant effects, even when you’ve followed the prescription to the letter. The feeling of nausea, stomach upset, and diarrhea, is a common complain among some users, and they seek ways to recover from these cipro side effects.

Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, used to treat many bacterial infections that range from urinary tract infections to skin infections, stomach infections, bone and joint infections, respiratory tract infections, and typhoid fever, among others. Cipro and other fluoroquinolone antibiotics are used as a last resort for treating these infections, including anthrax, because they can have debilitating side effects, such as low blood sugar; tendon problems, mood changes, headache, and paranoia, on patients.

In this article, we will discuss the side effects of Cipro and other antibiotics that contain ciprofloxacin. We will also help you with tips on how to use Ciprofloxacin to avoid some of the side effects that come with it. Also, you will get to know how to recover from Cipro side effects, should you get them.

    When to Use Cipro

Cipro is an antibiotic that has dangerous side effects; hence its use is not encouraged until other types of antibiotics have failed to effectively treat an infection. It is usually prescribed when your doctor has ascertained that you are not allergic to any ingredient I the drug, and there is no other drug option for you. Although it can be used for adults and children, its extended-release is only available for adults.

You should use Cipro when your doctor says you should. You can use it with or without food, but it is advisable to use it with water. Do not attempt to use it with milk or any dairy, as it may cause you to feel nauseous or even vomit.

Also, it is essential that you have informed your doctor of any medical condition you may have before this prescription is made. Usually, patients with liver or kidney problems, diabetes, aneurysm, heart issues, brain tumor, and hypokalemia may be exempted from taking Cipro as it is considered unsafe foe them. However, your doctor may reduce your dose to make it a safe option for you despite your medical condition.

    Side Effects of Cipro

The side effects of Ciprofloxacin, that makes it an unpleasant drug to use by many, stem from some patients pre-existing medical conditions, the medication some patients are already on and how they interact with Ciprofloxacin, allergy to Ciprofloxacin, and the dosage of Ciprofloxacin some patients ingest.

Some Cipro side effects that arise as a result of being allergic to ciprofloxacin include:

    • Hives – welts that develop on the face. They are itchy and are usually red or pink, causing stinging pain to the bearer. They are one of the primary physical evidences of a reaction to a foreign material in the body; in other words, allergy.
    • Difficulty breathing – may arise due to the swelling of the air passages, including the nasal canals. It is an allergic reaction to ciprofloxacin.
    • Sever skin reaction – the skin may flare up in other ways than hives. Such reactions may include swelling of the face, skin redness or purplish coloration, and skin pain.
    • Sore throat – this may arise when the antibiotic causes bacteria to reach the throat. With sore throat comes difficulty swallowing, and a tendency to avoid eating and drinking, which may be detrimental to the patient since using Cipro requires abundant hydration.

Cipro side effects that arise as a result of pre-existing medical conditions include:

    • Muscle weakness
    • Tingling sensation and numbness – occurs if the patient suffers from nerve-related medical conditions
    • Paranoia, confusion, and hallucinations – these become more pronounced in patients of anxiety and panic disorder.
    • Dizziness, fast heart rate, headache – patients with heart conditions and low blood sugar are commonly affected by these side effects.
    • Popping sound in joints, joint swelling, and sudden pain – especially if the patient has had a tendon tear.

    Other Cipro side effects:

    • Jaundice
    • Shortness of breath
    • Severe stomach pain
    • Diarrhea
    • Lack or insufficient urination
    • Heart bleeding – which may lead to death, if not attended to promptly.

How to Recover from Cipro Side Effects

The side effects attributed to using Cipro are exacerbated by underlying medical conditions. However, general symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and skin reactions, manifest in relatively healthy individuals. To recover from these side effects, attention should be given to each side effect and treated individually. It is preferable that you inform your doctor before using any other medication apart from Cipro.

Generally, you can recover from cipro side effects, faster, if you apply the following tips:

    Hydrate

Hydrate to recover from cipro side effects
Hydrate to recover from cipro side effects

It is advisable to drink enough water when you’re on antibiotics, especially cipro. It helps the body get rid of the metabolites faster, and helping you recover from the side effects ciprofloxacin may cause you. Also, it reduces the chances of developing headache.

    Avoid Drug Interaction

Don’t use ciprofloxacin with other antibiotics. neither should you use it with other medications that may cause dizziness, as in analgesic combinations – 44334 white pill, aspirin, or other related drugs; alcohol; antidepressants, and so on.

It is advisable you inform your doctor of all medications you are currently using. They may advice that you stop them before commencing Cipro dosages.

    Remain active

One way to make metabolites available for your body to remove include remaining active. Your metabolism speeds up when you’re active, helping you to get rid of ciprofloxacin metabolites and returning to normal. Being active may help you ward off headaches and nausea.

    Eat ginger

Bring your nausea under control by consuming ginger or mint. Their characteristic aromatic taste and smell helps to keep nausea at bay. Ginger is also commonly used to treat motion sickness.

    Use warm or cold compresses

Use warm compresses on your head or stomach, if you’re feeling headache or stomach ache. It helps to lessen the help by relaxing the muscles. Cold compresses are the better option when the side effect you’re looking to recover from is muscle pain around a joint or related to a tendon.

    Conclusion

To recover from Cipro side effects, you need to take precaution against using other medications that may make your symptoms worse. For the best direction, consult your doctor and hydrate as much as possible.
