As an analgesic, RP 10 is used to treat moderate to sever pain. Its mode of operation is different from how anesthetics work. There are different types of analgesics, some are Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, acetaminophen such as paracetamol, and opioid drugs such as oxycodone (RP 10) and morphine.

In this article, our discussion will be about what RP 10 is, how it works to stop the pain in its users, why it is a controlled drug, and how accessible it is. Other things we will discuss include the recommended dosage of RP 10, who is it safe and unsafe for, what medications does it interact with, and some more points.

    What is RP 10?

RP 10 pill, more rightly called Oxycodone, is a prescription drug that is classified as a narcotic analgesic because it is opioid pain relief. It is used to treat moderate to severe pain that cannot be handled by analgesics such as paracetamol.

RP 10 pill comes in different brand names such as Oxycontin, RoxyBond, Oxydose, Endocodone, and many more. However, its generic name, as it is known pharmaceutically is Oxycodone Hydrochloride.

It is classified as a controlled drug because it contains opioids – which is a globally abused drug that causes addiction and grave health and medical implications when used for a long time or overdosed. It is, therefore, advised that patients who use RP 10 do not increase their dosage without their doctor’s consent. Also, to curb the indiscriminate use of RP 10 pills, you need a prescription to purchase them.

How Does RP 10 Pill Work?

RP 10 pill or oxycodone is an analgesic. That means it works by impairing the brain and nervous system in the way they feel pain. Pain is a sensation that passes from a site of damage to the brain through the nerves. When you use RP 10 pill, it makes the nerve reduce the amount of signal it sends to the brain for interpretation.

RP 10 pill also acts on the brain by making it produce more dopamine – a hormone that is responsible for feel-good moods. This increase in dopamine level masks the existence of pain even though it is reduced by the same drug action.

However, it is important to note that the effect of RP 10 on the brain can lead to fatal side effects, especially when used beyond the recommended dosage. It is effective as a pain killer but it can also be an organ killer when used wrongly.

Dosage and Administration of RP 10 pill (Oxycodone)

The dosage of oxycodone depends on the milligram you’re on. Oxycodone is available as a capsule, a tablet, and as a syrup.

RP 10 pill is a pill that contains 10 milligrams of Oxycodone Hydrochloride in that pill or capsule. There are other dosages as high as 40 mg for single doses. Also, there are extended-release tablets with concentrations as high as 80 mg. The use of the RP 10 pill depends on the severity of its user’s pain and how long they have been on the pill.

RP 10 pill is to be taken orally as it is a pill. This applies to other oxycodone forms; capsules and syrup, as well.

Note that dosages should not be changed at will. Consult with your doctor if the current dosage does not help with your pain.

How Long Does RP 10 Pill Work in the Body?

Oxycodone (RP 10 pill) usually begins to affect your body 30 to 60 minutes after use and its effect can last as long as 6 hours. However, this only applies to immediate-action pills. For extended-release pills of oxycodone, the effect of the pills might not be felt until about 2 hours after use and can last for up to 22 hours.

For a better result from oxycodone, it is better to start your pain management with fast-acting pills and gradually move to extended-release pills.

Side Effects of RP 10 (Oxycodone).

Like every other medication, there are side effects to taking a RP 10 pill, especially over a period. There is cause for concern if a user constantly needs to increase their dosage to deal with their pain.

There is also a need to be careful with the use of this medication because it tends to cause addiction – the major reason for its strict control.

Some side effects attached to the use of oxycodone, RP 100, is to be expected. However, some are simple and easy to manage while others can be deadly.

Simple side effects of oxycodone, RP 10 pill, include:

    • Nausea
    • Dizziness
    • Sleep apnea
    • Headache
    • Elevated mood
    • Constipation

While the above side effects can be easily managed, some others can not. They include:

    • Muscle stiffness
    • Hallucinations
    • Urinary problems
    • Fainting
    • Diarrhea
    • Fever
    • Increased heart rate

If you notice any of these symptoms, put a call through to your doctor as soon as you can. Oxycodone is an opioid pain killer that should be taken seriously.

RP 10 Pill Interaction with Other Medications

It is common to have another pain killer prescribed alongside oxycodone. Some brands of oxycodone have acetaminophen as a companion pain killer. In cases where the two are not in one tablet, they can be prescribed separately; one to manage long-term pain, the other for short-term pain relief.

However, some medications do not work well in combination with the RP 10 pill. Some of them can cause serious problems and even death. They include:

    • Stimulants and Medications for depression.
    • Medications for Parkinson’s disease
    • Other narcotic medications
    • Sedatives
    • Alcohol

Your doctor should know all the medications you are on before you begin to use a prescription of RP 10 pill.

Who Should Avoid RP 10 Pill?

Despite its effectiveness as an analgesic, not everyone can use RP 10. It causes some serious side effects in healthy people and will be deadly in some others. People who should not use oxycodone include:

    • People who are allergic to oxycodone or acetaminophen
    • Patients with liver problem
    • People struggling with addiction
    • Individuals that have problems with their gallbladder, pancreas, kidney, and thyroid.
    • Sleep apnea patients
    • People with intestinal issues.

    Price of RP 10 Pill

Oxycodone has varying prices in different pharmacies across Nigeria. Oxycontin, a brand name for Oxycodone, usually has 100 tablets in its container. The price per container on average is about 1,500 naira. In some pharmacies, it can be as costly as 3,000 naira.

    Conclusion

RP 10 pill or Oxycodone, as it is commonly called is a prescription narcotic analgesic that is usually used to treat medium and severe pain that milder analgesics cannot help with. It is an addictive medication and can only be gotten through a prescription.

RP 10 pill causes some simple and deadly side effects and should not be used by people that have a history of addiction or have health problems that are related to an organ.

If you notice that you feel sweaty and feverish after using the RP 10 pill, consult your doctor immediately.
