Klovinal, commonly known as a pessary, is a vaginal tablet that contains metronidazole, clotrimazole, and lactobacillus spores. It’s utilised to get rid of a vaginal infection. Both Metronidazole and Clotrimazole kill both good and nasty vaginal infections.
The beneficial bacteria in the vaginal area protect it from infection and disease. Lactobacillus spores replenish the vaginal flora with new beneficial bacteria, restoring normal vaginal flora.
Each box of Klovinal vaginal pills contains six tablets. The pessaries are bullet-shaped white to off-white tablets. It is manufactured in India by bliss GVS pharma ltd and distributed in Nigeria by sea-green medicines ltd.
Composition Of Klovinal Vaginal Tablet
Each Pessary contains:
- Metronidazole BP 500 mg
- Clotrimazole BP 100mg
- Lactobacillus Spores 150 million
- Excipients qs
Klovinal is a vaginal infection treatment that combines clotrimazole, metronidazole (Flagyl), and lactobacillus spores to treat both fungal and bacterial infections such as vulvovaginal candidiasis (yeast infection), pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), bacterial vaginosis, and trichomoniasis.
Klovinal is a pessary that treats the causes of vaginitis while also restoring the vaginal acidic balance (or normal flora). It’s great for preventing recurrent vaginal infections.
Mycoten, Sabreten, Canesten, and candid V6 are other typical medications used to treat vaginal infections such as candidiasis, vaginosis, and trichomoniasis.
They are not wide spectrum since they only contain clotrimazole, which means they only cure fungal infections. Clotrimazole is not effective against bacterial or protozoan illnesses.

How to use Klovinal Vaginal Tablet
1 wash your hands clean
2. Do not enter the pessary. If the foil wrapper seems soft, run it under cold water or store it in the refrigerator for a few minutes to stiffen it before removing it.
3. Take one pessary from the strip.
4. Peel away any foil or plastic covering from the pessary.
5. Sit or lay down with your legs apart and your knees bent.
6. Using your fingers, gently insert the pessary as far as comfortably possible into the vagina.
7. Wash your hands again when done.
8. Stay in that laying posture for approximately an hour.
Tips on the effective use of Klovinal Vaginal Tablet
- Once a day, insert one (1) Klovinal pessary as deeply as possible into the vaginal canal using your fingers or an applicator. It should be used for at least six (6) days, ideally before going to bed.
- Even if your symptoms go away after a few days or your menstrual cycle begins, keep taking this medicine every day for the whole time suggested. Stopping klovinal too soon may cause the infection to recur, worsening and becoming more difficult to cure.
- Please with your doctor before taking Klovinal if you are pregnant. Klovinal is not recommended for usage during pregnancy since it might cause birth abnormalities.

Klovinal Pharmacodynamics
Clotrimazole is a topical or intravaginal antifungal medication with a wide range of activity. It kills yeast and dermatophytes, as well as certain Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Trichomonas.
Clotrimazole works by interfering with cell wall lipids to change the permeability of fungal cell walls.

Klovinal Pharmacokinetics
Clotrimazole penetrates the epidermis when applied topically, but little or no systemic absorption has been reported after vaginal administration. Metronidazole is reported to be poorly absorbed from vaginal pessaries.
The vaginal flora is recolonized by Lactobacillus sporogenes.
Contraindications
Patients who are known to be hypersensitive to topical Imidazoles should avoid Klovinal pessary.
Precautions And Warnings
If irritation or sensitivity develops while using Klovinal pessary, the medication should be stopped and appropriate therapy started. If Klovinal pessary treatment fails to work, microbiological tests should be performed to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other pathogens before starting another round of anti-mucolytic therapy.
Lactation and pregnancy
Only if the benefits outweigh the risk to the foetus should Klovinal pessary be given to a pregnant or lactating mother.
Interaction
Antibiotics with lactobacillus activity should be avoided. Home remedies such as cedar vinegar, baking soda, and others fall into this category.

Can a virgin use Klovinal Vaginal Tablet?
Yes, of course. Virgins are not immune to vaginal yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis since not all vaginal illnesses are sexually transmitted.
