You might know that turning something into your habit takes exactly 21 days. The same goes for working out. The first month feels a little difficult. But once you get the hang of it, the days start to feel incomplete without exercise. However, getting out of the couch is the toughest of all battles. How to do that? How to do it at a stretch for 21 days until it turns into your habit? By the time you finish reading this blog, you’ll have all the answers to your questions.

    1. Find something that gets you excited.

You don’t have to choose a workout routine you don’t like simply because someone told you to. While some people enjoy intense workout sessions, others like Yoga. As long as it works for you, it doesn’t matter what you choose. Try out different types of workouts before finalizing one. Always pick one that you enjoy. Else, you won’t be able to continue doing it repeatedly for a very long time. Only when you enjoy what you’re doing, will it become a part of your life.

    2. Keep the “why” clear.

Identify why you want to include exercise in your daily routine. Have you set a goal that you want to accomplish? Or do you want to simply adopt a healthy lifestyle? To stick to the routine, you’ll need to be clear about your motive behind why you want to do it. When you’re clear about your why, you can deal with any excuses your brain throws. Dominate your excuses and become stronger than that.

    3. Exercise with friends

Find your workout buddy. It’ll make you accountable in terms of working out. Friends act as motivators who’ll cheer you up and push you when you feel like not going for it. You what’s even better? Build a gym in your home, get the equipment from Lifespan Fitness, and work out with your buddy in your private space. Become cheerleaders and keep each other focused on achieving that body goal.

    4. Schedule it

Plan your day. Use your Google calendar or day planner to take out particular times of the day for working out. Treat it like any other task your team assigns at work. You must get it done by EOD. Write it down like it’s a doctor’s appointment, so you can’t make excuses not to do it. Utilize your weekends to plan out each day of the upcoming week. This will inculcate a sense of obligation inside you.

    5. Keep track of the progress.

Keep note of your inches or body weight at an interval every couple of months. Regardless of where you are in the journey, it’s essential to record every step and give a pat on the back, even if the slightest result is visible. One trick we can recommend to stay consistent is to strike out days from the calendar when you’ve had your workout. Your mind will love it when the streak is maintained. This is yet another way how you can keep yourself motivated. The unbroken streak will surely do it for you.

    6. Never compare yourself

Although it’s amazing to have a competitive spirit, that does not mean you should start comparing yourself with others. There should be a healthy competitive feeling, which shouldn’t overwhelm you. Everybody’s construction is different. Some might start getting results quickly, while others might need extra time for the same result. Rest assured; you’re at your own pace. Your competition should always be against you. Do one more rep than you did yesterday. Yes, that’s progress. Be proud of it.

    7. Reward yourself

Rewarding yourself once in a while is as important as setting fitness goals. You choose the reward. It could be anything, such as something you have wanted to eat for quite a long time or that expensive handbag you wanted to buy. Do this when you achieve your short-term fitness goal. It’s a little treat for your consistency, effort, and determination. Make sure not to overdo it. Otherwise, you’ll end up broke and unhealthy again!

    8. Make it convenient

When starting this journey, try to make the process as convenient as possible. Choosing a gym nearby is a step towards making the journey easy. It’s even better if it’s within walking distance. Yet another practice could be to start by working out at home. It requires the least effort. You can switch to a gym nearby when you become consistent in-home workouts.

    Conclusion

Tons of perks are associated with working out, such as increased creativity, a relaxed mind, a higher sex drive, and fewer health issues. Sticking to the tips mentioned above will help you successfully include exercise in your routine. And before you know it, it’ll turn into your habit. So, get started right now!
